Our relationship with the client started
with an evaluation project to integrate
Radius Authentication and Accounting network
protocols into their existing 3G stack. We
were selected for our prior experience of
SDL using Telelogic tools. The first task
was to undergo a significant learning curve
to come up to speed on their existing system
where the client provided documentation and
SDL that we were able to study and assess.
The work was to be at the higher layers of
the RNC and the CN where they had used SDL
tools configured for full auto code
generation. We agreed on toolsets and test
techniques that would ensure our work would
integrate seamlessly, and with minimum
effort on their part.
To aid smooth transition we integrated
the work at the clients offices and
delivered source code and documentation in
the clients own internal format. The
deliverables that the client received were
therefore presented in what was to them a
familiar fashion and therefore much easier
to work with. This project was delivered
within the client's time constraints (which
were tight) and completely to budget.
The success of the Radius project paved
the way for a larger project to provide
fully 3GPP compliant RANAP protocol stack
procedures(a 3g protocol for RNC - CN
communication).
The following procedures were fully
completed, successfully delivered and
integrated onto their target completely to
budget and timescale. The project covered
design and test documentation,
implementation in SDL of the RANAP
procedures from 3G TS 25.413 for RAB
assignment/release, Initial UE and IU
Release, Direct Transfer, Overload Control,
Reset, Error Indication, Reset Resource, CN
Invoke Trace, Data Volume Report and CN
Deactivate Trace. Standard MIB functions
were also provided for central control of
variable parameters
