Raycomm can provide solutions to:-
- Develop applications that get the most from DECT technology
- DECT voice and data applications e.g. DECT networking, modem, messaging
- Design DECT products to take full advantage of DPRS (Dect Packet Radio Service)
- MAC, DLC, NWK, IWU, MMI and application layer development or modification
- Integrate DECT capability into products and systems
- DECT stack porting to any BMC architecture
DECT is aimed at medium-range, voice and data applications - particularly in SOHO
applications. It is a proven mature technology and with that comes stability and enhanced
build cost effectiveness. Accepted and used globally around the world, DECT standards are
continually being pushed forward by ETSI with features such as the introduction of DPRS,
giving data rates up to 2Mbps. For the future, ETSI are looking toward data rates of 20
Mbps.
We have several years of experience specifically developing within the DECT protocol
itself and developing DECT products for various markets. DECT is tried and tested, very
capable and a highly flexible technology suitable for voice and data applications.
We can analyse your intended requirement, suggest how DECT can be used and highlight any
operational restrictions that may apply at an early stage and make sure that DECT is right
for you.
We have extensive experience developing within all levels of the DECT protocol stack
itself and more latterly developing applications which use the full benefits of the
technology both in voice and packet data applications.
There are three main possibilities for the distribution of the DECT stack on your
hardware:
1. The complete DECT protocol stack and your application sit together on the Burst
Mode Controller (BMC). This method is generally suited to small to medium sized
applications.
2. The lower layers of the protocol stack reside on the BMC whilst the application layer
resides on a separate processor, PC or similar platform. This may be suitable for small
systems or wireless modem applications for example.
3. For a system intended to cover a wide area then the MAC and physical layers will
usually be distributed to form cells, with each MAC/Physical layer feeding back to a
common central data link controller and the higher layers. This method is necessary if
seamless handover is required between individual cells. More suited to applications such
as wireless LAN or wide area voice coverage.
If interoperability with other manufacturer's products is a necessity your application
will need to integrate with one or more of the official DECT voice and data profiles,
otherwise a bespoke profile can be developed to best suit your application. We can design
your DECT application, create the required profile(s) and integrate with a third party DECT
stack.
DECT stacks are reasonably cheap these days hence developing your own stack is not usually
necessary, we have experience working with vendors of DECT hardware who provide a DECT
protocol stack. In doing any required stack modifications we will work closely with the
chosen hardware supplier.
The technology lends itself to data applications where rates of between 24Kbps and 2Mbps
are required. We can develop bespoke applications consisting of voice, data or both, for
markets such as wireless networking and internet access. Let us use our extensive experience
to get your product to market.
